Playing, Talking, Waiting

Poetry | Holly Redshaw

We,

Ali and I,

Played and talked, then played some more.

I lay on the floor for a bit, yoga block propped under my head.

“Wellness,” I said, nodding sagely.

Ali nodded solemnly back. She had her foot

Looped behind her head, hands plunged into the carpet,

humming “Ohmmmmm,” whilst circular breathing.

She’d been going for 24 minutes, already.

I put my feet up in the air. My eyes rolled

to the back of my head, and I hissed,

“Wellnesssssss.”
